LATEST UPDATE

Welcome to Shekinah High School and Training Center.

While the Village schools have grown to 500 children, many of the children were aging out and seeking the opportunity for further education; preparing for university and looking to their futures: providing for their people and families.

A private donor contributed the funds towards the purchase of 5 acres of land near the village area for the purpose of building a high school where the youth could still be in close proximity to their families.

CLAP began raising funds towards this endeavor and by 2020 we broke ground.

As of 2023, we have 4 classrooms, 2 student dormitories, teachers quarters, kitchen, electrical supply, water well, and 2 toilets.

Projects for 2024 - four new toilets, 2 bathing rooms, desks for the classrooms, beds for the dormitories, and various retaining walls to provide better water run-off during the rain season.

The approximate cost is $14,000.00

In Spring of 2021, the High School Board was able to register “Shekinah High School and Training Center” with the Bangladesh Government recognizing it as an official educational institution.

The High School board and staff (5 teaching and 3 admin) - all members the of tribal people - are very excited for this opportunity and have registered the first group of students to begin class in Fall of 2021. They look forward to providing opportunities for education for their students.

Our future hope is to incorporate training in sustainable trades such as carpentry, sewing, agriculture and fisheries.
